Mr Smakers prepares traditional, artisan burgers from their own meat and the freshest ingredients from the land. Your burger is made to order and comes straight from the grill. ‘Sustainable’, ‘honest’ and ‘artisan’ are the key pillars in the kitchen. The meat we use is from the Dutch ‘weiderund’, a cow with more than one purpose. After her career as a dairy cow, she is given a well deserved period of rest with a balanced diet. The new pounds she gains are beautifully lined with fat, which makes the meat extremely tender and full of flavour. She spends her life (approximately 5 years) grazing in the meadow and in clean and spacious barns. We believe in giving our cows the best lives possible, that’s what you can taste.
Besides the burgers, we also prepare our chips in a traditional, artisan way. Throughout the season, we only choose the best potatoes. The potatoes are delivered daily by ton and then cut into chips by hand in our own kitchen. We’ve chosen not to peel them. Because the vitamins and flavour are all in the peel.
Our burgers are encased in beautifully fresh bread. Together with
a baker family from Utrecht, we have developed a special recipe, which is only used for Mr Smakers. To us, it’s important that the bread doesn’t contain e-numbers and that it’s made in a sustainable way.
